Epistemological vigilance regarding ritual listening as a problem is developed in relation to vision, in order to propose methodologies for the study of complex societies. Based on an analysis of anthropological literature and ethnographic practice, the aural world is examined in relation to sound, speech, inscription, graphic objects, acoustic space-time, among other categories. Through the mediation of Wixarika ritual specialists, the aural sensory dimension in the apprehension of the world situates us in other realities, enabling us to denaturalize conventional categories of thought.
