Abstract

The objectives of this work are to analyze the research, protection, and/or conservation efforts undertaken by the INAH Chihuahua Center during its founding period, from 1984 to 1990, by partially recovering the documentary record held in the INAH Center's Central Archive and that of the Documentary Collections Center of the School of Anthropology and History of Northern Mexico, particularly the JLSR Collection. We will reflect on the establishment of this regional center in light of a program known as the Deconcentration and Decentralization Plan of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, conceived as a continuation of the administrative deconcentration initiated in 1972 under Guillermo Bonfil Batalla. This work is based on a historical-anthropological inquiry following the methodological guidelines established by Metchild Rutsch.
