Abstract

The aim of this article examine the importance of reflexivity as part of the work of urban anthropology. Through a theoretical, historiographical, and methodological review, the initial sections explore the main currents that contributed to the emergence of urban anthropology as a field of study and its subsequent development in Mexico. Toward the end, I demonstrate, through an empirical experience, how the exercise of reflexive exploration within the framework of ethnographic research conducted in the city allowed me to gather data despite the volatility of practices and the heterogeneity of the social agents.
